Indiana Transmedia is auditioning for Plethora, an immersive transmedia event to take place in and around Muncie from early September through early December. Immersive transmedia is a blending of a wide variety of media and live interactions that draws participants into a fictional, interactive storyline that takes place in real world spaces. While it is not a hoax, at no point does the fiction acknowledge itself as such. Real participants interact with the fictional characters through email, phone, web, live and prerecorded video, sms messages, and live interactions in everyday places like street corners, park benches, libraries, offices and even the frozen food section of the grocery. Immersive transmedia events last for several weeks (in this case three months) but actors will need to interact with participants only occasionally. Most roles generally require only two or three hours of time per week, with some weeks being more demanding than others. Often, but not always, this interaction can be facilitated through the internet or on the phone. There is almost never a script, and most interactions are guided by a general outline with the actor given fairly wide latitude to explore the character. Plethora is a story that follows a number of characters wronged by an evil corporation and their attempts to thwart the companies vile plans. With the help of the participants, and some clandestine corporate espionage, the heroes might stand a fighting chance of bringing down the giant. |
